SERGEI PROKOFIEV

Prokofiev was born in Russia on 4/27/1891.  Prokofiev

displayed unusual musical abilities by the age of five.

His first piano composition to be written down (by his mother),

an 'Indian Gallop'. He composed his first opera “The Giant”

at age 9. In 1936, Prokofiev composed our favorite musical

story - Peter and the Wolf. We will be listening to various

instruments that are in “Peter and the Wolf” and we would

also try to identify the themes after we watch the musical

story on DVD.
