A LETTER TO OUR 1ST GRADE PARENTS

 

Dear 1st Grade Parents,

 

As we celebrate our composer’s birthday this November, we will also be having our first “mini-concert” of the year. A mini-concert is a time when students may share their favorite songs, compositions, and dances with each other in an informal and appreciative atmosphere.

 

During the second week of each month, students who would like to share with the class may let me know what they would like to do. Then during the third week of each month, we will set aside one music class time for our mini-concert. Participation is optional and no rehearsals are needed. It is simply a time for students to share their interests and talents with the class and a time for the class to practice being an invested, appreciative audience. The audience is restricted to class members. Mini-concert is a monthly event and the tentative schedule is as follows:

 

November: Week of 11/11-11/15

December: Week of 12/9-12/13

January: Week of 1/21-1/24

February: Week of 2/18-2/21

March: There will be no mini-concert or this month due to our spring break.

April: Week of 4/14-4/18

May: Week of 5/19-5/23– our last mini-concert will be held this week.
